£20m now available for charities and community groups through the Ofgem Energy Redress Scheme (England, Scotland and Wales)

The Ofgem Energy Industry Voluntary Redress Scheme has opened its fifteenth funding round.  The Ofgem Energy Industry Voluntary Redress Scheme provides funding to charities and community energy groups to support vulnerable energy consumers and deliver projects that improve fairness, innovation, and sustainability in the UK energy sector.

A total of £20 million is available. Charities and community energy groups in England, Scotland and Wales can apply, including community interest companies, co-operative societies and community benefit societies.

Funding is available through six grant programmes:

  • Main Fund (£12.5 million)
    For projects supporting households in vulnerable situations. Grants range from £50,000 to £2 million.
  • Impact Fund (£500,000)
    For projects that measure the impact of energy advice and other support provided to households. Grants range from £20,000 to £500,000.
  • Small Project Fund (£1 million)
    For smaller projects supporting households in vulnerable situations. Grants range from £20,000 to £49,999.
  • Innovation Fund (£3 million)
    For projects developing new or innovative products or services that benefit households. Grants range from £20,000 to £1 million.
  • Carbon Emissions Reduction Fund (£2 million)
    For projects that reduce UK carbon emissions and help households lower their carbon footprint. Grants range from £20,000 to £1 million.
  • Just Transition Fund (£1 million)
    For community renewable energy projects that benefit energy consumers in vulnerable situations. Grants range from £20,000 to £250,000.

Previous projects funded by the scheme include Repowering London’s Urban Community Solar for Londoners project, which helps people access community-owned rooftop solar schemes. Other funded projects have provided independent energy advice and supported research to ensure new energy technologies meet the needs of older and disabled people.

Since 2018, the Energy Redress Scheme has funded more than 761 projects that have supported over 900,000 households across England, Scotland and Wales.

The deadline for applications is 5pm on 2 March 2026.
