Funding Available to Integrate Food and Health Education into the Curriculum (Scotland)

Education Scotland, the national agency supporting learning and teaching improvement in Scotland, has announced that grants of up to £3,000 are available to Local authority primary and secondary schools, ELC settings and independent Additional Support Needs schools in Scotland to integrate food and health education into the curriculum.

The funding is being made available through the Food for Thought Fund, and applications can be submitted by individual institutions or a cluster of schools working together.

During this funding round, Education Scotland is interested in bids which will to contribute to:

  • ensuring learners have an understanding of food education and can apply their knowledge and skills in a progressive way
  • relating projects to the world of work, reducing food waste and learning through farm visits
  • improving outcomes for learners in ways which seek to eliminate the inequity that currently exists amongst learners from different backgrounds and particular vulnerable groups

Schools and ELC settings interested in applying should carefully review the program guidelines and eligibility criteria outlined by Education Scotland. This ensures their proposed projects or activities align with the fund's goals and allowable uses for the grant money.

The closing date for applications is 12 noon on the 27th June 2024.
