Funding to Address the Related Themes of Poverty and Trauma (Scotland)

The Robertson Trust has announced the launch of its 'Nurturing Relationships' funding theme This theme succeeds the previous 'Emotional Wellbeing and Relationships'.

This initiative addresses the intertwined challenges of persistent poverty and intergenerational trauma by supporting projects that foster nurturing relationships within families and communities.

Eligible applicants include constituted community groups and registered charities operating in Scotland, particularly those with an annual income under £2 million. The Trust offers small grants of up to £20,000 and large grants of up to £50,000.

Funding is intended for projects that focus on preventative measures and holistic support to break the cycle of poverty and trauma.  The Trust is especially interested in supporting projects that focus on those groups that are more likely to suffer from poverty and trauma; including:

  • Lone parent families
  • Other child poverty priority family groups (including larger families, families with young children, and young parent families)
  • Disabled people
  • Communities experiencing racial inequity
  • Asylum seekers, refugees and those with no recourse to public funds
  • Households claiming Universal Credit or related low-income social security benefits
  • People with experience of the care system
  • Unpaid carers
  • Women with low incomes
  • Young people (under 26)
  • Older people with low incomes
  • People living in deprived places, including rural or remote communities
  • People experiencing severe or multiple disadvantage (e.g. due to homelessness, substance misuse and offending)

The Trust anticipates awarding a limited number of higher-value grants to initiatives that closely align with their funding priorities.

The deadline for applications is the 24th January 2025.
