Funding to Improve the Health & Wellbeing of Unpaid Carers (Scotland)

Voluntary, community, and public sector organisations in Scotland can now apply for grants through the National Lottery Community Fund's Supporting Change – Carers programme.

This initiative funds long-term projects that reduce health inequalities experienced by unpaid carers through systems change. This could involve changing how carers access services, collaborating with different organisations and sectors, or making sustained changes in how unpaid care is valued and discussed.

Unpaid carers are defined as adults or children who look after a relative, friend or neighbour. They might look after someone due to a disability, illness, mental health condition or addiction.

Grants of between £500,000 and £2 million will be awarded to support approximately 4 to 5 projects over 5 to 10 years.

Up to £50,000 in development funding is also available.

There is a 2-stage application process, and the closing date for stage 1 applications is 15 July 2026.

Potential applicants are invited to join online information sessions to hear more about the priorities and what the programme is looking to fund.  Information on how to join these sessions can be accessed here
