Grant News
Community organisations across the capital are being invited to apply for grants from the London Community Energy Fund (LCEF) 2025–26, a £630,000 initiative by the Greater London Authority (GLA) to support local renewable energy and decarbonisation projects.
The scheme, launched by the Mayor of London, offers grants to help small charities, co-operatives, voluntary groups, and other non-profit organisations plan, develop, and deliver clean energy solutions in their neighbourhoods. Funding is designed to reduce carbon emissions, improve energy resilience, and empower communities to take ownership of their local energy future.
The fund is structured across three streams, offering support at different stages of project development:
- Feasibility grants of up to £10,000 to explore initial ideas.
- Development grants of up to £10,000 to refine and prepare viable proposals.
- Implementation grants covering up to 33% of project capital costs (capped at £60,000) to help deliver renewable energy installations or efficiency upgrades.
Eligible applicants must be legally constituted, operate within London, and hold a separate bank account. The programme welcomes a broad range of applicants, including registered charities, community benefit societies, social enterprises, schools (in partnership with community groups), tenants’ associations, and faith or equality organisations.
In addition to project-specific funding, Stream 3 allows up to 25% of the grant to support core organisational costs, helping community energy groups build capacity and long-term sustainability.
Applicants must follow a three-step process: read the Phase 8 prospectus to check eligibility; download the application pack from the Phase 8 page; and submit a completed application to CommunityEnergy@london.gov.uk by 11.59pm on Sunday 7 December 2025.
Queries about the scheme should also go to CommunityEnergy@london.gov.uk .
