Grants Available to Plant Commuity Orchards (Scotland)

Community-based organisations, voluntary groups and charities operating within Scotmid’s trading areas across Scotland can apply for grants of up to £200 through Scotmid Co-operative’s Community Orchard initiative.

The programme provides small-scale funding to support the planting of fruit trees and bushes in shared community spaces, helping to create greener neighbourhoods, promote outdoor activity and strengthen local connections. Projects must deliver clear community benefit and be located in accessible public or community-managed areas.

Grants of up to £200 are intended to cover the cost of fruit-bearing trees and shrubs. Successful applicants are expected to plant a minimum of five trees or bushes and to involve local residents or volunteers in planting and ongoing care, supporting long-term sustainability and biodiversity.

The Community Orchard initiative forms part of Scotmid Co-operative’s wider commitment to community wellbeing, environmental sustainability and local resilience. Groups receiving funding may be asked to provide photographs and brief updates demonstrating the progress and impact of their orchard.

Further information, application details and practical planting guidance are available via the Scotmid Co-operative website.
