Grants Available to Build Understanding of the Climate Emergency (Scotland)

Organisations such as community, cultural and education groups can apply for a share of £275,000 to support projects that help people take action on climate change.

The Scottish Government’s Climate Engagement Fund aims to increase understanding of the climate emergency across Scotland. It supports activities such as:

  • climate festivals

  • learning programmes

  • skills workshops

  • art exhibitions

  • showcasing clean technologies

Grants of £25,000 to £80,000 are available for local and national projects.

Projects will be assessed based on:

  • how well they engage audiences

  • how they build understanding of climate change

  • how closely they align with the Scottish Government’s Public Engagement Strategy for Climate Change

Since launching in 2023, the fund has supported 24 projects across Scotland.

In 2025–26, this included Changeworks' work to help people living in park homes improve their energy efficiency. It also included a project by the Forth Valley Sensory Centre, supporting blind, partially sighted, deaf and hard of hearing people to explore sustainability in their local communities.

Applications from partnerships are welcome.

The deadline to apply is 1 March 2026.
