Grant News
The Scottish Government has announced an additional £2 million in funding to support survivors of domestic abuse.
The Fund to Leave initiative aims to help remove the financial barriers that prevent women from leaving abusive partners.
The fund provides emergency grants of up to £1,000 to support a broad range of essential needs, including:
- costs to flee an abusive partner or safely relocate
- safety measures to remain at home (e.g. reinforced locks, alarms, security cameras)
- immediate essentials (e.g. food, clothing, school uniform, furniture, transport)
- legal advice or justice-related costs
- emergency accommodation costs
- debt pressures or being unable to access money due to economic abuse
- childcare or dependent care
- support for women with no recourse to public funds
The additional funding could support up to 2,400 women and their children over the next year.
The average payment is around £700.
The fund is paid through fund delivery partners, which include participating local Women’s Aid services and other specialist domestic abuse services.
Information on how to apply is available on the Women’s Aid website. Applications can be made at any time.
