Funding to Strengthen Community Organisations (Scotland)

The National Lottery Community Fund has announced that applications are open to its Strengthening Organisations programme in Scotland, offering grants of £300 to £50,000 for up to two years to help existing grant holders test new ideas and strengthen how they work.

Eligible applicants include voluntary and community organisations, constituted groups or clubs, registered charities, SCIOs, not-for-profit companies, CICs and community benefit societies.

To apply for this funding, organisations must:

  • currently have funding from the NLCF for one or more projects
  • work with people affected by poverty, disadvantage or discrimination
  • involve the people they support in designing how they work

Activity could include improving systems or technology, adapting services, piloting approaches tried elsewhere, widening participation, or collaborating with other organisations.

The funding can be used for:

  • some organisational overheads
  • equipment
  • staff costs
  • training costs
  • transport
  • utilities
  • volunteer expenses
  • fees for specialist consultants

Applications are made after an initial conversation with the funder. Eligible groups are then invited to complete an online application form. Applications can be made at any time, and decisions are usually made within 12 weeks.
