Grant News
Schools, early years centres, youth groups and registered charities in Scotland can apply for funded residential breaks for disadvantaged young people and families.
Hostelling Scotland’s Happy Hosteller Funded Breaks programme supports groups working with young people aged 6 to 25, while early years and family groups can include children under six where parents or guardians also take part.
Families cannot apply directly.
Successful applicants can receive a one- or two-night stay at a Hostelling Scotland youth hostel, including a ‘Wee Breakfast’, with the option of packed lunches and dinner.
The programme supports funding across the following categories:
- Nature and the Environment:
Exploring Scotland’s natural landscapes, wildlife, and ecosystems. - Culture and Historic Heritage:
Discovering the Scottish stories and cultural gems. - Wellness and Play:
Engaging in physical and fun activities that promote health and self-discovery.
In 2025/26, Hostelling Scotland funded 28 breaks, supporting 616 people from communities across Scotland.
The closing date for applications is 26 June 2026.
