Grant News
Grants are available through the Active Thames Fund to support organisations developing watersports and activities on the Thames Path National Trail across Greater London, Kent and Essex.
Active Thames is a partnership programme supporting watersports on the tidal Thames and connected inland waterways.
The fund aims to improve access, diversity and inclusion, and raise awareness of the physical activity benefits of blue space. It has awarded more than £770,000 to 73 organisations since 2021, benefiting over 11,922 people.
Applications should support one or more priorities:
- increasing participation among under-represented groups;
- developing coaches, volunteers or administrative teams;
- improving physical or mental wellbeing;
- building stronger community connections.
Formally constituted organisations with a bank account can apply. Individuals and friendship groups are not eligible. Projects must link to the relevant waterways or the Thames Path National Trail. Retrospective costs, marketing costs, unsafe activity and projects creating conflicts of interest are excluded.
Most grants are around £5,000. Higher requests must show they can meet multiple objectives. Funding is expected to be awarded in December, with delivery beginning by spring.
