Get Kids Going (UK)

Get Kids Going! is a national charity which provides disabled children and young people up to 26 years with funding to help them participate in disability sports. Young people from all backgrounds and levels of experience, from beginners to paralympic level, can apply for the funding for specialist sports wheelchairs to help them compete in sporting events such as marathons, triathlons, tennis, athletics, skiing, rugby, basketball etc. The charity also gives sports grants to help with the cost of training, physiotherapy, sports psychology, travel, competition fees and the design and development of sports equipment. 

British Cycling - Places to Ride Crowdfunder (England)

The British Cycling Places to Ride funding programme supports the development of new or the improvement of existing cycling facilities in communities across England.  Through the programme, up to £15,000 in match funding is available for Crowdfunder projects that provide community-based, accessible cycling facilities and equipment to encourage people to cycle more regularly, regardless of gender, age, ability or ethnicity. British Cycling want to invest in projects that perhaps would not traditionally see British Cycling as a source of funding or indeed consider sport to be their main area of work. Campaigns typically run for 28 days but take a few weeks to create.

Mortgage Advice Bureau Foundation - Crowdfunding Campaign (England, Scotland & Wales)

The Mortgage Advice Bureau Foundation funds sustainable community projects throughout England, Scotland and Wales by making grants to support charities and community interest companies. The Foundation, has teamed up with Crowdfunder to make £100,000 in funding available. Organisations can apply for up to 50% of their crowdfunding target, up to a maximum of £5,000, to support projects that match one or more of the following themes: the environment and conservation; health and wellbeing; and the prevention or relief of poverty. Projects could include rewilding projects, community gardens, social inclusion and mental health projects, sports projects, community food banks, money management and budgeting skills, and educational projects for communities to reduce their carbon footprint. No deadline given.

England and Wales Cricket Board - County Grants Fund (England & Wales)

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is the national governing body for all cricket in England and Wales, supporting the game at every level – from grassroots to elite level. Through the County Grants Fund the ECB aims to support affiliated cricket clubs to create welcoming environments, provide enhanced facilities and playing opportunities, and to help clubs tackle the impact of climate change. Funding of between £1,000 and £10,000 is available

Cumbria Community Foundation - Workington (Ashfield) Lawn Tennis Club Fund (Allerdale)

The Cumbria Community Foundation exists to benefit disadvantaged people and communities by making grants to support relevant charitable or voluntary organisations, which make a difference within their local area. Through the Workington (Ashfield) Lawn Tennis Club Fund the foundation provides grants of between £2,000 and £4,500 to groups who promote or enable the provision of tennis coaching to young people. Funding is available to support the following types of projects: cost to employ a tennis coach; facility hire to enable young people to learn to play tennis; tennis competition-related costs such as referee fees and trophies.

Cumbria Community Foundation - Quarry Hill Grassroots Fund (Cumbria)

The Cumbria Community Foundation exists to benefit disadvantaged people and communities by making grants to support relevant charitable or voluntary organisations, which make a difference within their local area. Through the Quarry Hill Grassroots Fund the foundation provides grants of up to £2,000 to small voluntary and community groups and organisations to enable them to continue or expand their work in advocacy, community voice, and service provision for local people in Cumbria, with a preference to North Allerdale.

Cumbria Community Foundation - Printers Inc Social Mobility Fund (Cumbria)

The Cumbria Community Foundation exists to benefit disadvantaged people and communities by making grants to support relevant charitable or voluntary organisations, which make a difference within their local area. Through the Printers Inc Social Mobility Fund the foundation provides funding to charitable groups supporting young people who reside in Cumbria, with preference for disadvantaged young people aged between 14 – 25, to improve their life skills, education, employability and enterprise. Education includes academic, occupational or social education, the acquisition of life or employment skills, physical, sporting, music or other artistic skills.

Poundland Foundation – Kits for Kids Fund (UK)

The Poundland Foundation is a grant making charity, whose aim is to transform communities and change lives across the UK. Through the ‘Kits for Kids’ scheme, grants of up to £750 are available to local children’s sports clubs or organisations working to improve children’s fitness and health. The scheme will award 250 grants to provide equipment and kit to help children get active again after the Coronavirus pandemic. Applications will be considered for any kind of team sport, from football to netball, hockey to volleyball. Money for the Foundation comes from in-store fundraising, carrier bag donations and micro-donations through chip and pin machines. 

Hargreaves Foundation (UK)

The Hargreaves Foundation is a grant-making charitable foundation set up in 2020 by Peter Hargreaves and his family.  Applications are open for charities and educational institutions seeking funding to support those under the age of 18, and living with a mental health problem, physical disability or growing up in poverty through the mediums of sport and education.

Through the Thomas Graham & Sons Grassroots Fund, the Foundation provides grants of up to £1,000 for voluntary-led groups and organisations for projects involving sport and young people across Cumbria.

Cumbria Community Foundation - Russell Armer Fund (Cumbria)

The Cumbria Community Foundation exists to benefit disadvantaged people and communities by making grants to support relevant charitable or voluntary organisations, which make a difference within their local area. Through the Russell Armer Fund, the Foundation provides grants of £3,000 to small voluntary and grassroots groups to enable them to support their local communities. Examples of projects supported include new first responder groups, inclusive play areas, and equipment for sports training.

Community Foundation for Lancashire - Rossendale Community Fund (Rossendale)

The Community Foundation for Lancashire exists to benefit disadvantaged communities by making grants to support relevant charitable or voluntary organisations, which make a difference to their local communities. Through the Rossendale Community Fund the foundation provides grants of up to £750 to enable families and young people up to the age of 25 to flourish, learn and develop skills or knowledge. This includes education, training, sports development, arts and culture activities and also play provision for younger children. 

One Community Foundation - Davy Fund (Kirklees)

One Community is the Community Foundation for the people of Kirklees and exists to benefit disadvantaged communities by making grants to support relevant charitable or voluntary organisations, which make a difference to their local communities. Through the Davy Fund the foundation provides grants of up to £1,000 to voluntary and community organisations across Kirklees, to encourage the participation of children and young people in sport, with an emphasis on team sports and activities; in order to encourage positive development of that activity, and for the long term health and social benefits that results from such participation.

Cumbria Community Foundation - Dora Beeforth Memorial Fund (Cumbria)

The Cumbria Community Foundation exists to benefit disadvantaged people and communities by making grants to support relevant charitable or voluntary organisations, which make a difference within their local area.  Through the Dora Beeforth Memorial Fund, the Foundation provides grants of up to £1,000 to support young people aged between 11 and 21 years from low income families to participate in sport and foreign travel.

Cumbria Community Foundation - Beeby Family Fund (Wigton & Surrounding Area)

The Cumbria Community Foundation exists to benefit disadvantaged people and communities by making grants to support relevant charitable or voluntary organisations, which make a difference within their local area. Through the Beeby Family Fund, the Foundation will initially provide grants of between £250 and £1,000 to support and improve the lives and opportunities of disadvantaged children and young people living in Wigton and in the villages and rural communities around Wigton.

Sport England - The Community Asset Fund (England)

The Community Asset Fund is a programme dedicated to enhancing the spaces in local communities within England that give people the opportunity to be active.  This can include non traditional spaces such as canal towpaths, woodlands and open spaces – all with potential to be used and enjoyed as part of an active lifestyle.

Hays Travel Foundation (UK)

Hays Travel Foundation was created in 2015. The foundation works with organisations that support people, who for one reason or another need help to achieve their potential. The foundations focus is on the following objectives: Education; Poverty; Health; Art’s and Culture; Sport. Support is provided to registered charities working with young people under the age of 25 in an area where Hays Travel operates.

Yorkshire Cricket Board - Development Grants (Yorkshire)

The Yorkshire Cricket Board Development Grant can provide funding of up to £250 (50% of project costs) to support affiliated clubs that are starting a junior section, starting a women/girls’ team or section, starting a disabilities team or to help a Special Needs individual within the club. Funding can be used for coach bursaries (to attend UKL1, L2 or relevant workshops); equipment; and other innovative ideas approved by the YCB GAG Committee.

Forever Manchester (Greater Manchester Community Foundation)

Forever Manchester is one of 48 community foundations across the UK. The Foundation funds and supports thousands of community projects across Greater Manchester providing funding that directly addresses the needs of Greater Manchester's most vulnerable people and communities. Support generally falls under the broad heading of social welfare and encompasses: Increasing skills and employment opportunities; providing a vital life-line; opportunities for young people; and helping local communities to thrive. Forever Manchester gives priority to small, grassroots organisations that are locally controlled. The Foundation encourages active participation from volunteers and is able to fund a wide range of capital and revenue project costs.

Ron Pickering Memorial Fund (UK)

The Ron Pickering Memorial Fund is a grant making organisation that was established to help young British Athletes to fulfil their potential. Since its creation the memorial fund has awarded over £2 million in small but significant grants to several thousand talented young British athletes. The grants are designed to make a difference and range in value depending on the athletes age, ability and personal circumstances but have always had an impact on the athletes ability to develop, helping recipients make the difficult transition from junior to senior level through support for equipment, specialist coaching or travel and importantly helping build the athletes' confidence and self-esteem through recognition.

Central Social and Recreational Trust (UK)

The Central Social and Recreational Trust (CSRT) is a grant-giving organisation who aim to improve the conditions of life for those under the age of twenty one and of all other persons who by reasons of poverty, social and economic circumstances are unable to obtain facilities for recreational or other leisure time occupations . Funding of up to £1,000 is available to clubs/organisations which are affiliated to their governing body (such as the Amateur Boxing Association of England, National Association of Clubs for Young People etc.). Funding can be used for equipment to be used by all members, and maintenance of the property as long as it is owned by the club or has a significant lease. The majority of people who benefit from the grant must be under 21 years old.

The National Hockey Foundation (England)

The Hockey Foundation primarily makes grants to a wide range of organisations that meet one of the following chosen areas of focus: Young people and hockey; Young people and sport in Milton Keynes; Enabling the development of hockey at youth or community level and Smaller Charities.
Grants can be awarded to clubs, limited companies, registered charities and other bodies however all applications must be supported by England Hockey. Awards are usually made to organisations working with young people (under 21 years old) and can be for medium to long-term projects (i.e. over one year) or for shorter-term one-off projects. A maximum limit of 3 years of support can be provided (either an instalment grant or three separate applications).

 

The Rowing Foundation (UK)

The Rowing Foundation is a registered charity. Its purpose is to promote the participation in rowing of young people (those under 18 or still in full time education) and the disabled of all ages.  The Foundation gives grants of £500-£4,000 to help organisations and clubs involved in on water elements of the sport of Rowing who are individually affiliated to British Rowing (other than via their governing body) and whose requirements may be too small or who may be otherwise ineligible for an approach to the National Lottery or other similar sources of funds.

 

Sport Aid (UK)

Sport Aid provides financial support to young talented athletes performing at National level in able-bodied and disability sports.  It is open to young people aged between 12 to 18 years and up to 35 years for disability sports. The Sport Aid Awards helps towards the cost of travel, training, accommodation, competition fees and sports equipment. Nominations for the awards are made through the National Governing Bodies of the athlete's sport. They will be able to discuss the award in more detail and provide an application form.

Wooden Spoon Society Grant (UK)

Schools, charities and community organisations can apply for grants for projects that improve the quality and prospect of life for children and young people who are disadvantaged physically, mentally or socially including those Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET). The grants available include capital projects such as medical treatment and recovery centres, sports and activity areas, sensory rooms and gardens, playgrounds and hydrotherapy pools as well as revenue grants to support outreach programmes for children in their communities.

Canoe Foundation Grant (UK)

The Canoe Foundation is a grant making trust which aims to ‘positively change lives through canoeing'. The foundations purpose over the next few years is to support all to enjoy and benefit from the experience of paddling on our water in a sustainable manner. They aim to do this by: Facilitating suitable launching and landing points to water and providing more opportunities for a modern diverse community to enjoy canoeing with improved facilities; Promoting and supporting the conservation of inland waterways, rivers, oceans and the environment whilst allowing water users to have an enjoyable and readily accessible experience.To acheive this the foundation is looking to support projects with grants of between £500 and £10,000 which create new or improved launching points in urban or rural locations or as part of a water trail, such as steps or pontoons; Incorporate better accessibility or facilities at waterside locations which might improve the parking or changing aspects of a s...

Andy Fanshawe Memorial Trust Grant (UK)

Charitable organisations, schools and youth groups that offer outdoor recreation opportunities can apply for funding for projects that allow young people to experience outdoor recreation. The Trust is likely to support groups representing those who are disadvantaged or who face particular challenges. The grant aims to support specific projects that encourage young people to further their existing skills and gain new experiences. Eligible expenditure includes equipment, course fees and trips. Expeditions abroad are not supported. Applications can be submitted at any time.

Dickie Bird Foundation Grants (UK)

The Dickie Bird Foundation was founded by former Test Cricket umpire Harold "Dickie" Bird MBE in March 2004, and provides grants, to assist financially disadvantaged young people under 16 years of age to participate in the sport of their choice irrespective of their social circumstances, culture or ethnicity. The aim of the grant is to help young people, who, through no fault of their own, are disadvantaged or underprivileged due to the financial situation of their family/guardians or carers and therefore are unable to follow or continue in the sport of their choice. The grants are to help with the cost of essential sports equipment.

 

Sport England - Small Grants Programme (England)

The Sport England Small Grants Programme has been set up to support local community sport projects which seek to increase participation, sustain participation or develop opportunities for people to excel at their chosen sport. For example, Sport England might provide a grant to a sports club to expand its age range by helping it to buy extra team kit or pay additional coaching fees. Or Sport England may help youth clubs work together with local sports clubs to get more young people playing sport. Not-for-profit clubs or associations, statutory bodies or educational establishments can apply for grants of between £300 and £15,000.
