Grants of Up to £5,000 Available for Projects to Improve the Life Chances of Young People (England - Various Locations)

UK registered charities and Community Interest Companies (CICs) working to improve the life chances and social mobility of disadvantaged young people can apply for grants of up to £5,000 through the Haberdashers’ Benevolent Foundation's Small Grants Programme 2025.

The programme supports organisations working in the focus areas of:

  • Early Years (0-5 year olds)
  • Young people who experience disadvantage (social mobility)
  • Young people with experience of the custody system
  • Young people who experience homelessness

The grant can be used to support core costs and project expenses.

Eligible organisations must have an annual income of approximately £500,000 or less, with a preference for those with an income below £250,000.

The funding is available in the following areas:

  • The London Borough of Bexley
  • The London Borough of Hackney
  • The London Borough of Lewisham
  • The London Borough of Southwark
  • The Borough of Telford and Wrekin, Shropshire
  • The Forest of Dean District
  • The town of Chertsey in Surrey
  • The village of Albrighton, Shropshire (and surrounding areas)
  • The town of Wigston, Leicestershire (and surrounding areas)
  • The village of Bunbury, Cheshire (and surrounding areas)

The total funding available for this funding round is £100,000

The closing date for applications is 5pm on the 14th March 2025. Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by 25 April 2025.

In past years, the Small Grants Programme has funded projects such as the Adult Literacy Trust’s Reading Coaches programme, which helps adult learners improve their reading skills, and the Ben Kinsella Trust, which has used the funding to provide knife crime prevention workshops in schools.
