Financial Fairness Trust Launches Briefing and Analysis Fund (Scotland)

A new funding opportunity has been launched to support high-quality policy debate ahead of the 2026 Scottish Parliamentary Elections. With many Scottish households facing significant living standards challenges, there is a pressing need for robust, independent analysis to inform policy decisions.

Organisations such as Research institutes and Independent research organisations can apply for grants between £15,000 and £50,000 through the Briefing and Analysis Fund, which will support projects focusing on crucial areas including public finances, taxation, employment, living standards, and the transition to net zero. The fund aims to produce independent economic analysis and social research that specifically addresses the financial well-being of people living on low-to-middle incomes in Scotland.

Successful projects will deliver high-quality analysis of policy reforms, including their distributional effects, and provide impartial assessment of existing and proposed policies.

Interested organisations must complete an outline application form by noon on Wednesday 9th July, with funding awarded to begin in late September 2025.

The Briefing and Analysis Fund is a joint initiative between the Financial Fairness Trust and The Robertson Trust, demonstrating their commitment to improving the quality of economic and social policy debate in Scotland.
