Grants of up to £250,000 Available to Empower Scottish Communities (Scotland)

Grants of £20,001 to £250,000 are available to grassroots organisations in Scotland designed to tackle social, economic, and environmental challenges, through the National Lottery Community Fund’s Community Action programme.

The funding is available for projects lasting up to five years and aims to support community-led initiatives that bring people together, reduce disadvantage, and build local resilience. Only voluntary or community-led groups based in Scotland are eligible to apply, and all projects must be shaped and driven by the communities they serve.

The fund is open to a wide range of ideas, provided they show strong community involvement and clear social impact.

Example projects could include:

  • transforming a disused building into an energy-efficient community hub,
  • creating a climate action group led by local residents,
  • delivering mental health and wellbeing services to young people,
  • developing a skills-sharing network for unemployed adults,
  • launching a support scheme for isolated older residents.

A key requirement is a clear plan to measure outcomes and ensure long-term benefits.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with no fixed deadline.
