Grant News

Local Communities can now Apply for Grants to Help them Develop Neighbourhood Plans (England)

Local communities in England can now apply for grants of up to £18,000 and technical support to help them develop neighbourhood plans. The grants are being provided by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing, and Communities (DLUHC) as part of the Neighbourhood Planning Support Programme.

Neighbourhood plans are documents that set out planning policies for a specific area. They can be used to protect local green spaces, encourage better designed places, and bring forward housing that genuinely meets local needs.

The grants are available to any community that is working on a neighbourhood plan. To be eligible, the community must have a clear project plan and a commitment to engaging with local residents.

The grants can be used to cover a range of costs, including:

  • Research and analysis
  • Planning consultancy
  • Public consultation
  • Production of the neighbourhood plan

Applications can be submitted at any time and any grants awarded must be spent by 31 March 2024.
