Funding and Support Available for Innovative Ideas in Greater Manchester's Foundational Economy (Greater Manchester)

The Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA)  has opened applications for its new Foundational Economy Innovation Fund, which aims to provide grants and support to businesses and organisations in Greater Manchester's foundational economy to trial innovative new ideas and improved ways of working.

The foundational economy refers to the essential businesses that provide for our daily needs such as food, housing, health care, education, utilities, and transportation.

The fund will be split into two phases, with Phase 1 offering £10,000 grants for up to 40 projects to develop and test ideas, and Phase 2 offering £60,000 grants for up to 10 projects to develop the best ideas from Phase 1. Successful applicants will receive support and be invited to join a community of innovators.

Applications are currently open for Phase 1 funding, with a focus on the health and social care, early education and childcare, retail and personal services, and hospitality and leisure sectors.

The deadline for applications is 12 March 2023, and any questions can be directed to gmcaeconomy@greatermanchester-ca.gov.uk .
