The Art Fund, the national charity for art, is inviting applications to its Commission Grants programme to support the creation of new artworks for public collections. The grants aim to help museums and galleries commission artists to create new work that will enrich their collections and engage audiences.
The Commission Grants programme was introduced in 2018 to support the creation of new art that is of national and international significance. The grants can be used to commission any type of artwork, from paintings and sculptures to films and performances.
The fund is open for applications from public museums, galleries, historic houses, libraries and archives based in the UK or Channel Islands that are open for at least half the week for at least six months of the year and at least provisionally accredited through the Arts Council Accreditation Scheme or other national equivalents
The grants are available to all UK public museums, galleries, historic houses, libraries, and archives that are open for at least half the week for at least six months of the year and at least provisionally accredited through the Arts Council Accreditation Scheme or other national equivalents.
The scheme awards small grants of up to £7,500 and large grants over £7,500.
Applications to the small grants are accepted on a rolling basis. Applications to the large grants programme can be submitted in February, May, July, October and December.
