The Energy Saving Trust Foundation and Airbnb are funding a new round of grants for youth-led climate action projects. The Youth Climate Action Fund is open to organisations in Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and the North East and North West of England that work with young people experiencing inequality. Grants of up to £40,000 are available over two years, and the deadline to apply is the 27th October 2023.

The fund supports a wide range of projects, such as practical environmental work, carbon reduction initiatives, education and awareness programmes, or advocacy and campaigning. The goal of the fund is to empower young people to take action on the climate emergency.

To be eligible to apply:

  • Organisations must already be working with children and young people experiencing inequality.
  • Organisations must have an annual income for the last financial year of less than £1 million.

Below are some examples of projects that could be funded by the Youth Climate Action Fund:

  • A project that teaches young people about climate change and how they can reduce their impact on the environment.
  • A project that helps young people install solar panels on their homes or schools.
  • A project that organises a climate strike or other event to raise awareness about climate change.
  • A project that advocates for climate policies at the local or national level.
