New Funding Programmes to Support People Affected by Cancer (the North East & North Cumbria)

The Northern Cancer Alliance has opened two new funds for charities, community groups and other not-for-profit organisations supporting people affected by cancer across the North East and North Cumbria.

  • The Prehabilitation Fund - provides grants of up to £10,000 to support the delivery of prehabilitation interventions/services that will help cancer patients to be better prepared for treatment. Projects should aim to improve patients’ quality of life by promoting physical activity, better nutrition and emotional resilience. A total of £162,193 is available from this fund. Applicants must speak with the Grants Officer before making an application.
  • The Community Connectors Fund - awards grants of up to £500 to run activities supporting anyone living with and beyond cancer including carers, family and friends – for example, coffee mornings or drop-in sessions. A total of £20,000 is available from this fund. Applicants must contact their nearest Macmillan Cancer Support Centre before applying.

Groups can apply for funding from both pots simultaneously but priority for the Community Connectors Fund will be given to small/grassroots organisations.

The funds are administered by the Cumbria Community Foundation which will accept applications until the 8th September 2024.
