New Initiative to Encourage Young People to Take Up Running (Greater Manchester)

Sportswear brand Sudu, in partnership with Sported, has launched a new initiative to encourage more young people to take up running.

Project Fair Play aims to make running more accessible and inclusive for young people across Greater Manchester.

The project’s first phase will provide seven community running groups with grants of £1,000 each to help them address at least three of the following key societal issues:

  • fostering community cohesion
  • promoting health and wellbeing
  • addressing inequality in sports participation
  • reducing crime and anti-social behaviour
  • making running accessible to everyone

The funding will enable these groups to grow and attract more young members, covering various costs, including:

  • venue hire
  • participant/activity costs
  • kit
  • marketing and communications
  • coaching costs
  • training and qualifications
  • volunteer expenses
  • insurance and affiliation
  • equipment

Additionally, one Deep Impact Grant will be awarded to a grassroots club in Manchester that has already received support from Sported.
