British Gas Trust Energy Support Fund to Close on the 17th April 2025 (England, Scotland and Wales)

The British Gas Energy Trust has announced that its British Gas Energy Support Fund will close to applications on 17 April 2025.

This fund was introduced to address the pressing need for financial support among households struggling with energy debts, particularly during challenging economic times.

Specifically, this fund aims to assist British Gas customers in England, Scotland, and Wales who are experiencing or at risk of fuel poverty by providing grants to clear outstanding gas and electricity debts. ​

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be a British Gas credit or pre-payment meter customer residing in England, Scotland, or Wales.​
  • Must not have received a grant from the British Gas Energy Trust within the last 12 months.​
  • Must have an active gas, electricity, or dual fuel energy account in their name or be a member of the household, with the account pertaining to their primary residence.​
  • Must have a minimum debt of £50 as a pre-payment meter customer or £250 as a credit account customer, with a maximum debt of £2,000.​
  • Must be in or facing fuel poverty.​
  • Must have received assistance from a money advice agency or used the Trust's Benefit Calculator tool within the last six months. ​

The fund is currently closed to credit account customers.

Applicants meeting these criteria may be eligible for a grant to clear their energy debts. Applications can be submitted through the British Gas Energy Trust's official website. ​
