Grant News
Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) has launched the latest funding round of its Wheels and Walks grants programme. The aim of the programme is to promote healthier lifestyles and greener travel options, contributing to Greater Manchester’s ambition of becoming a more active and sustainable city-region.
The programme offers grants up to £5,000 to community groups and schools that encourage people across the region to walk, wheel, and cycle more often. The programme will run from early 2025 until late 2026 and aims to support around 40 local groups with both funding and training resources.
The programme is open to a broad range of organisations, including voluntary and community groups, registered charities, social enterprises, groups of organisations (led by a voluntary or community organisation), Community Interest Companies (CICs) with at least two directors, schools, colleges, universities, and NHS healthcare providers.
Beyond financial aid, successful applicants will benefit from specialist training, development support, networking opportunities, and tailored advice, helping them deliver inclusive and sustainable active travel initiatives in their communities.
The closing date for this funding round is 12:00 noon on 27 October 2025. A third phase is expected to launch in spring 2026.
