The Shoosmiths Foundation has announced that UK charities can apply for grants of up to £50,000 for projects that widen access to legal and business services careers for underrepresented groups. The Foundation is the grant-making body of Shoosmiths, a UK law firm, and supports charitable work linked to social mobility, access to justice and sustainability.
The latest funding round will support initiatives across the UK that create pathways into the profession, strengthen support networks and tackle barriers to opportunity. UK-registered charities of all sizes can apply.
Funding priorities include:
- improving access to higher education and careers in the legal profession for underrepresented groups;
- strengthening support systems for underrepresented groups;
- reducing systemic barriers to legal careers.
The Foundation is seeking projects that can show measurable impact in widening access to legal and business services professions. Previous grants have supported work including employability, skills development, access to justice and sustainability, but this round has a more targeted focus on legal career access.
Applications must be made by completing the online application form. The deadline is 30 September 2026, although the Foundation reserves the right to close the round early if enough suitable applications are received.
