Grant News
Not for profit organisations and groups in Leeds can apply for funding to support young people who are in care, leaving care, or have past experience of care. Grants can be used for projects that improve wellbeing, education, job opportunities, and social inclusion for these young people.
Registered charities, charitable incorporated organisations (CIOs), community interest companies (CICs), and other not-for-profit organisations based in Leeds can apply for up to £20,000 over two years. Around five grants will be awarded in total.
Smaller community groups that are not formally registered can apply for grants of up to £5,000. Priority will be given to projects that support underrepresented groups, such as LGBTQIA+ people, racially minoritised communities, disabled or d/Deaf people, and those living in low-income areas.
Examples of activities that can be funded include:
-
Education and training: life skills, self-care workshops, cooking sessions, digital skills, advice and advocacy, and legal support.
-
Employment: paid work placements, CV and interview workshops, job fairs, business mentoring, and apprenticeships.
-
Health and wellbeing: trauma-informed therapy, exercise sessions, mental health support groups, and parenting support for care-experienced or care leaver parents.
-
Practical support: budgeting sessions, housing and tenancy workshops, travel passes, and starter packs for white goods or furniture.
-
Community and social activities: cultural trips, creative outings, outdoor activities, and networking or volunteering opportunities.
The funding comes from the Leeds Community Foundation’s Lightbulb Fund. Applications must be submitted by 12pm on 19 January 2026.
